Refreshing the identity for an iconic TV program

Growing up in the 90’s, I watched Mótorsport everytime I could. I even had some shows recorded on VHS. So I didn’t hesitate when I had the chance to refresh their identity.

They needed a simple and unique identity for a TV program about Icelandic motorsport that has been on The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service (RÚV) for decades.

Alongside this program the host runs a podcast (Mótorvarpið) and the identity had to work there as well.

The idea of the identity comes from the chequered flag. The strongest synonym of motorsport there is. It is an attempt to depict the motion of the flag in a circle.
